The Choice to Start Again

We start something new every time we open our eyes to another day. Standing at the starting line can be exciting, but it might often be stressful and even intimidating at first. What will we see? How will we feel? Who will be there with us? Will we be able to do this? What do we need to do? We’re not given instructions when standing at the starting line. When the whistle blows, it’s GO time and we make do with the resources at hand. Symbolically speaking, I have fallen flat on my face more times than I care to remember. I have tripped, screamed, cried, complained, let my sense of self run wild, and I am sure that my spirit guides have contemplated running in the opposite direction a time or two. Even so, I am honest when I write that I always learned something valuable with each leap and every inevitable ending to make room for what arrived next. The valuable lessons learned were not always realized at once, but often in reflection the lessons settle exactly as they should. When I fell on my face, I got back up and did not hide my scars. When I tripped, I laughed out of humiliation and moved on. When I screamed, I tried to follow it up with a whisper of thanks for the opportunity to try again. When I complained, I apologized for letting my ego get in the way. As for my spirit guides, it’s all good. One important thing I have learned is that we cannot change other people, but we can change ourselves in many ways…our reactions, our thoughts, what we say… and transform challenges into something meaningful. At some point we must move on again to grow by obtaining more knowledge and experience to hopefully become a better version of ourselves. The version of myself today is completely different than the version that existed even ten years ago, and it’s all thanks to the starts and stops along the way. The ability to start again is a blessing and a choice. My wish for you today is that you are blessed with a positive fresh start, whatever form, however that appears in your life, and that you choose to start again. From the heart, Rae
